Located in Vereker Street, Humpty Doo, All Rural Mechanical and Diesel Performance (AR Mechanical) has been servicing the vehicles of the rural area since 2004.

The team has grown from four to nine over the last four years and includes highly-skilled, trained mechanics who have worked on vehicles of all makes and models and have over 100 years of combined mechanical knowledge and experience on the spanners.

The recently renovated office provides a modern and welcoming environment for customers and the workshop is well-equipped with the best in scan and diagnostic tools to keep up with latest developments in vehicle technology.
“There is no vehicle computer we can’t communicate with,” says owner Sheldon Quartermaine. “We are always looking to invest in technology to put back into the workshop.”

These specialist tools allow AR Mechanical to work on the latest Landcruisers, including the 200 series, and some unique vehicles including air boats, Rolls Royces and even a 1939 Bentley.

AR Mechanical specialise in 4WD common rail repairs and services. They are the experts when it comes to the Toyota Landcruiser and are major sponsors of the NT Landcruiser Club. Most club members bring their workhorses in to be serviced and repaired by a trusted mechanic, knowing they can rely on their vehicle through extreme conditions in remote areas. It’s not uncommon to see over a dozen Landcruisers in the AR Mechanical yard at any time.

AR Mechanical also specialise in diesel re-mapping of engine control units (ECUs) to improve performance and fuel efficiency. By modifying the default manufacturer’s software, it has the potential to deliver 30% more power and 15% better fuel economy – a must for remote areas. Over 300 cars have been remapped over the last year and the money back guarantee offered has never been taken up.

Other service offerings include high-flow exhausts, suspension upgrades, all air conditioning repairs and a state-of-the-art wheel alignment machine with 3D camera technology.

AR Mechanical have a strong customer focus, with two service advisors on hand to ensure every customer is fully briefed and understands any issues present, the work that needs to be undertaken and a price given prior to work commencing. Prior to a booking, the workshop team prepare by sourcing parts and aiming to provide same-day service wherever possible. This reduces surprises and bill shock for customers and keeps them informed on their vehicle’s status. The success is evident in the number of long-term customers who come from as far as Katherine to enjoy peace of mind when dropping their vehicle in for a service.

This commitment to delivering exceptional personalised service and unique understanding of the rural area differentiates AR Mechanical from the big dealerships. The team and their families love being part of the rural area and taking part in the same activities as their customers; including quad biking, four-wheel driving, shooting and fishing. This gives an in-depth understanding of the needs of the customers, the demands on the vehicles – and what it takes to maintain them!
