National Indigenous Music Awards

The National Indigenous Music Awards are recognised as one of Australia’s most prominent Indigenous music awards. Showcasing the rich, musical landscape of Australia and highlighting talent coming from all corners of the country, The National Indigenous Music Awards bring together both immerging and established acts; from local, up-and-coming artists still yet to make their mark on the world, to acts that have achieved international acclaim, such as Gurrumul, Jessica Mauboy and AB Original.

Held annually under the stars at Darwin’s historic Amphitheatre, The NIMAS bring audiences from all over Australia together under one roof, to celebrate the success of ingenious music in Australia, enjoy the live performances and soak up the ambiance of a night for music lovers of all ages and all cultures.

The award show, now in its 14th year, is not just a place to celebrate the mainstream success of Indigenous music however, but a place to uncover the next generation of Australian musicians, and applaud the incredible work that has preceded them.
The 2017 National Indigenous Music Awards will take place on August 12 at the Darwin Amphitheatre and will include performances from Paul Kelly, AB Original and Dan Sultan, Gawurra, Emily Wurramara and more.
