DARWIN CUP CARNIVAL 2015
It’s July, the Carlton Mid Darwin Cup is galloping towards us and once again we will witness the Northern Territory come alive with Carnival Fever.
There’s no other time of year when the sound of horse hooves and high heels echo together in such perfect harmony. When people from all walks of life come together to enjoy the ‘Sport of Kings’ and take in the excitement, racing action, atmosphere, fashion, elegance and social delights of what has become one of the most anticipated events of its type in the country.
In excess of 40,000 people are again expected to attend trackside across the eight days of racing spanning four weeks and culminating in the Carlton Mid Darwin Cup on Monday, 3rd August. This includes a large number of interstate travellers who often stay on to enjoy the off-course tourist attractions that Darwin and the Northern Territory have to offer.
Each year, the Carnival attracts more and more interstate trainers and horses to compliment the crucial, ever-present local contingent of industry professionals vying for a piece of the $1.95 million stakes on offer throughout the month-long Carnival. These are the people who create the spectacle we are all here to watch unfold.
