Arnhem Land

Arnhem Land is a vast isolated reserve in the northeast corner of Australia’s Northern Territory. And is one of Australia’s wilderness areas with wild coastlines, deserted islands, beautiful scenery, rock art, lush rainforests, gorges, rivers and waterfalls, soaring escarpments, savannah woodland and some of the best fishing in the world.

Arnhem Land is located in the middle of Australia’s northern coast and is bordered by Kakadu National Park, the Arafura Sea and the Gulf of Carpentaria. The Vast Arnhem Land covers 91,000 square kilometers of the Northern Territory of Australia.

The traditional landowners of the Arnhem Land are the Yolngu people, the oldest living culture in the world. The Yolngu people have occupied the land for almost 60,000 years.

There are diverse languages, customs, and traditions, followed by these Yolngu people that are more than 50,000 years old. Rich in Aboriginal art and culture, the spiritual and diverse Arnhem Land offers important conservation habitat for dugongs, nesting turtles, and migratory birds. Here wildlife is abundant throughout East and West Arnhem Land.
