Nightcliff Markets

Darwin’s market scene is quite famous, but you don’t have to limit yourself to the dry season.

Taking place all year round, come rain or shine, the Nightcliff Markets offer a fully accessible family-friendly experience and is always a great day out for locals and tourists alike since being established in 1995 by the Nightcliff Traders Association.

Conveniently located in the original Nightcliff Village, only five minutes from the foreshore precinct, the markets are open every Sunday between 8am and 2pm and feature over a hundred stalls with goods ranging from unique handcrafted products, jewellery, artistic wares, natural remedies, pre-loved items and bric-a-brac, and of course, plenty of great food and beverage options. Whether it’s a tropical smoothie, a sweet crepe, a spicy laksa or a barista-brewed coffee, you’re sure to find something delicious among the range of friendly vendors. Have your tarot cards read, enjoy a massage, try reflexology or simply do your fresh fruit and vegetable shopping for the week while supporting local traders. Prices are affordable and you can even pick up fresh flowers or potted plants.

The community feel is enriched by free entertainment and live music performances, with the Market providing a space for locals to connect socially and discover creative talent, be it buskers, artists or producers. There is also a playground providing entertainment for the kids to enjoy (and respite for the parents!) and plenty of seating under shade to relax and enjoy your purchases.

The Nightcliff Markets have thrived since their inception and continue to offer a relaxed vibe and a friendly and welcoming atmosphere that embodies Darwin’s well-known brand of hospitality. The Nightcliff Markets are an excellent choice for a casual Sunday stroll among the stalls to pick up a bargain, grab some great food or simply hang out with family and friends.
