Darwin Recycling

Located at 9 Jolley Street, Woolner, Darwin Recycling is a local recycling specialist and scrap yard for non-ferrous metal needs. With the largest stripping machine in Northern Australia, nicknamed “Kermit” for its bright green colour, Darwin Recycling can strip and separate plastic from copper wire and steel armoured cable. Recycled plastic goes in to making lightweight pavers as a substitute for sand.

“When you recycle with Darwin Recyclers, rest assured that your copper and plastic that Kermit eats or processes is not going to landfill.” said owner-operator, Gerard “Frenchy” French, a former tourism operator who saw an opportunity in recycling five years ago, starting with cables and expanding to include all non-ferrous materials.

Buying used batteries and all non-ferrous scrap metals for recycling including copper, cables, stainless steel, used batteries, electrical cables, electric motors, radiators, air conditioning units, brass, bronze and aluminium, Darwin Recycling provides a helpful and friendly service to both domestic and commercial customers, paying cash at the scales.

“The strangest thing that has come through the yard was a copper witch’s cauldron! It had a big witch’s head on the cauldron and  copper pipe for legs!”

EPA licensed to pick up, transport and store certain materials, site pick-ups for commercial quantities and commercial yard clearances are part of the service available from the professional and friendly team, available across the Top End.

Darwin Recycling is committed to supporting local and ensuring employment opportunities for indigenous people. A reputable company that works closely with police and deals with reputable buyers and sellers, caretakers on site reduce the risk of crime.

“We weigh, pay and have you on your way. So if you have got some electrical cable, batteries, stainless steel, brass or other non-ferrous material, support local and give Frenchy and the team a call!”
