Hungry Joes

Pizza and Ribs

HUNGRY JOES LOGOHungry Joes Pizza and Ribs is a local pizza place with a big reputation. Voted Darwin’s favourite pizzeria by Darwin Life readers, it is not hard to see how these guys are getting it right.

Located in Palmerston, owner operator Joe Rotumah is an all round local with a knack for pulling together some seriously great flavours. Much like many of the best success stories, Hungry Joes Pizza and Ribs was an idea that began in an unusual way.

‘It all started after a big night out and I remember it was 5am when I wrote out a menu for some unique mix of pizzas’ says Joe. ‘It was then I realised that a good, home-style pizzeria had a lot of potential in Palmerston – just like the ones we used to go to as a kid.’

From then on, Joe and his team at Hungry Joes have been building a reputation for their exceptional pizza designs, big ribs and that signature home-style cooking that doesn’t skimp on the flavour. Over the past 6 years, the local pizzeria has maintained its commitment to a simple philosophy on food; keeping it fresh, different and full of value.

‘If you create something you really care about, people will notice that. We care about our pizzas and ribs and work hard to make sure our flavours are right and our service is second to none’ explains Joe.

Classic twists such as ‘The Gobble Gutz’ and the ‘Yiros Pizza’ hit the mark as far as Darwin locals are concerned. One pizza not to be underestimated is the ‘Stuffed Pizza’. Built and designed as a personal rendition of the famous ‘Chicago Deep Dish’ created by Ike Sewell in 1943. Hungry Joes have taken this extreme pizza and made it even bigger! Starting with fresh dough in a deep pan dish, the team fill the pizza with cheese and toppings then seal it in a thin layer of dough. Finished with another layer of sauce and cheese, this taste sensation is not for the faint hearted.

Open 7 days a week, Hungry Joes Pizza is not short on options. Eat in, take-away or get delivery to your home or office. According to Joe, fans of this fun and dynamic local pizzeria can expect things to only get better.

‘Early in the new year we have plans to open for lunch as well as launch our online and mobile ordering service. Be sure to check our Facebook page for all the latest news and updates.’
