Local Territory Hero

MATT WRIGHT | www.mattwright.com.au

Local Territory hero, Matt Wright is best known as the star of National Geographic’s hit TV series Outback Wrangler which has been a rating success in over 130 countries worldwide. Matt has lived and worked in Darwin for 20 years collecting crocodile eggs, relocating problem salties and mustering cattle. Matt’s life is one big adventure and his love of the Top End clearly shines through in all that he does.

2017 has seen Matt represent Australia at the G’Day USA celebrations in New York and Los Angeles with the likes of Nicole Kidman, Paul Hogan, John Travolta and Chris Hemsworth. Tourism Australia recently announced Matt as a ‘Friend of Australia’ and his face continues to pop up all over the place with Outback Wrangler going to air on Channel 9 and his recent partnership with Great Northern Brewing Company.

It doesn’t get much more ‘home grown’ than Matt – his success is all thanks to his own determination, hard work and eccentric ideas. Four years ago, Matt launched Outback Floatplane Adventures, a local adventure tourism company based out of Darwin which has gone from strength to strength with its flagship product ‘The Ultimate Tour’. The tour is now ranked Number 1 on TripAdvisor and guests cannot stop raving about the tour’s spectacular floatplane water landing, crocodile escapades and lagoon adventures.

If that’s not enough to keep him busy, Matt is currently in the planning stages of building a luxury resort in the shape of Australia and is excited to announce the Territory’s newest glamping experience the Matt Wright Wetland Safari Camp. Matt and his fiancé, Kaia Hammond have invited us to share in the magical experience at the camp as the sun sets and the stars fill the sky.

Set amongst the spectacular cathedral termite mounds and lush open floodplains of the Finniss River region, the camp’s ten deluxe Lotus Belle Tents are complete with a double bed, outdoor shower, wooden decks and solar power bringing a new style of ecofriendly glamping to the Territory.
