AIMING HIGH

AIMING HIGH
OUR TERRITORY SCHOOL IS ONE OF AUSTRALIA’S BEST.
Darwin High School is celebrating the achievements of its Year 12 Class of 2015. Ninety-eight per cent of students completed their NTCET and nine students achieved in the Territory’s Top 20, including the top NT student Lauren Northcote and the top NT Indigenous student Lauren Seden.

Darwin High’s Principal, Trevor Read says high expectations are the key to the school’s success. ‘We do more than just support students to complete. We create an environment that motivates and challenges them to achieve to their full potential’.

Lauren Northcote agrees, ‘The expectations of teachers that all students can succeed and the support available was what I really treasured.’ Lauren achieved an ATAR of 99.90 and was successful in gaining a prestigious full scholarship to study a double degree in Law/Commerce at Bond University.

In 2015, Darwin High became an independent public school, ‘Being more autonomous means our school community has a greater say and we can be more innovative in our programs and curriculum offerings to meet the needs of all students,’ says Trevor.

‘We’re incredibly proud of the achievements of all our students; they are proof of what is possible if you have the right support and learning environment ’.
